Who we are

Sampark Foundation was set up by Anupama Nayar and Vineet Nayar, former Vice Chairman and CEO of HCL Technologies and author of Harvard Business Press bestseller Employees First: Customer Second”, with a belief that ‘frugal innovation’ and its effective implementation in partnership with the government can drive large-scale improvement in learning outcomes. This thought prompted our founders to dedicate their lives to this advancing the cause of primary education in the country. Our journey of learning, covering 84,000 rural schools, 1 crore children in 6 states (Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana) along with 2,00,000 teachers is just that—a learning journey.

Our Mission

With innovation-led large-scale social change as the central idea, our goal is to significantly improve the quality of education for 20 million children by 2025 across 200,000 schools in 7 states.

Our Vision

To create a world where every child receives optimal primary education through frugal innovation in the critical domain of teaching practices, tools and methodologies, thus fostering their holistic development.

Our Reach

Sampark Foundation is in the pursuit of education equality for millions of children in rural India. We implement our intervention in what is called a “waterfall” model, where an idea or innovation spreads organically to reach a large number of beneficiaries.

We have already reached 10 million children in 84,000 schools across 6 states, making our program one of the world’s largest primary school transformation initiatives by a Foundation.

Key Beliefs

    • Frugal innovation and its effective implementation in partnership with the government can drive large-scale improvement in learning outcomes.
    • The problems at scale an only be solved with patience, perseverance and lots of passion.
    • If we can get a child excited about learning, nothing will stop her from getting to where she wants to go irrespective of all the constraints she might face on her way.
    • We put teachers at the heart of our plans so that they own and drive the change and claim credit for better learning outcomes.
