Breaking Boundaries

I had just finished with my class 12 examinations and I couldn’t wait to go to my hometown for the vacation. To be away in the hills for a month, just the thought of it was blissful.

One day while strolling in the local villages, I saw a lady must be in her early thirties, struggling to read something out loud. I went up to her only to find that she had a newspaper in hand. I asked, “Aapko akhbar padhna acha lagta hai?” To which she said, “Mujhe toh bachpan se padhne likhne ka shauk tha par kabi school hi nahi dekha. Jo bhi seekhti hu, ab apni beti se seekhti hu.” I cannot express what I really felt at that moment. It was heartbreaking and heart warming.

I could see the want on her face, that desire to learn. Imagine how many people are still there who have the desire to learn but are not given the opportunity. I want to make these opportunities available to people. This is what inspired me to become a spark.
