Importance of Quality Education for Primary's Education

According to UNICEF’s reports about South Asia, only one in three children who reach fourth grade can read basic texts. This directly translates to millions of kids who have entered the primary education system but have not gained the basic skills of numeracy and literacy due to the lack of quality education.
This statistic is a powerful fact that highlights what happens when the quality of education isn’t prioritised. Its impact? The kids are illiterate, making it difficult to function in the ever-changing world. It also makes them vulnerable to various ill treatments like child labour, abuse, and violence. The problem becomes even more noticeable in a gender-based lens, where girls are clearly disadvantaged compared to their male peers due to societal norms.
It doesn’t end here. What looks like a good education system can often focus solely on rote learning methods, discrimination, and corporal punishment. Hence, the quality of education must be gauged on more than just data that can be manipulated by fear and unhealthy learning methods.
The Impact of Quality Education & its Impact on Primary Education
Primary education is a founding layer of various outcomes.
1. Stronger Learning Base: When key subjects like Maths, Science, and Languages are taught through engaging methods, children retain information for longer, learn to apply it in multiple ways, and experience a boost of interest in learning as their cognitive skills like curiosity, communication, and problem-solving skills are exposed to suitable material.
2. Inclusive Learning Experience: A robust and quality education approach will accommodate various deviations from a standard, easy-to-manage kid. It will empower visual learners, audio learners, and those needing a more hands-on style to understand the subject matter.
3. Betterment in Living Standards: When children are provided with quality education, they are equipped with resources that can help them fight their tumultuous conditions and break the cycles of negativity. The education system has the power to enhance the emotional and social development of a region in the long run by improving learning outcomes.
How We Are Contributing to the Mission
We understood the importance of quality education and decided to address it at the grassroots level by making our teach-easy pedagogy a cost-effective, easy-to-understand, and implemented tool. It is useful even in the remotest section. It is made with games, audio-visual mediums, voice boxes, and smart devices that can run without active cellular data at less than $1 per child per year.
The Transformation We Empowered
With 1.69 crore children participating in Sampark Foundation’s Smart Classroom Program, we had more than just an academic impact (a substantial 32 per cent rise). The children looked forward to learning, with one describing it as his favourite part of the day. Another professed confidence in asking questions, finally! This change opened the doors for higher education possibilities for lakhs of children and generations to come.
Would You Like to Contribute, Too?
Quality primary education is beyond the reach of millions of kids across India. We at Sampark Foundation constantly try to expand our horizons and include more children in our movement for change. However, this can only be possible when responsible adults who understand the importance of quality education ensure that it reaches impressionable minds in a timely manner. You can be that person!
